| Born in the small town of Coatesville, PA, she knew she wanted to pursue music after performing at various talent shows in school. It was a surprise to her peers to hear the quiet little girl belt out "Hero" by Mariah Carey with ease and expertise. Artists like Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige and EnVogue accelerated her drive to sing. She emulated their soulful sounds and that fueled her passion to follow her heart and go after her dreams. This petite vocal powerhouse has grown through creative collaboration with many producers. She has matured into an amazing singer/songwriter that remains influenced by her soulful roots in R&B. After her independent self- titled debut EP album was released, NaKisha joined the 6 piece band Modified Funk performing in clubs from PA, MD, GA, NJ, VA and NY, learning ,singing and growing until the time is right. Songwriting has also become a constant in NaKisha's life. Her talent has taken her from the offices of EMI to the hit producing Mama's Boy's Studio in Philadelphia to S.O.W Productions with Donald Robinson, co-writing , writing and referencing songs for some of today's hottest artists. People are drawn to her sound which is a break from the monotony of today's R&B. During a time when the airwaves are congested with gimmicks, one-hit wonders and no originality, NaKisha demands nothing but the best from herself, and delivers time and time again. NaKisha isn't chasing a lifestyle of instant celebrity, and because of this her sincerity shines through in her music.
